The Nichols College baseball team fell to No. 1 seeded Western New England University 6-2 in the first round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament Friday afternoon at Archie Allen Field in Springfield, Massachusetts and will face No. 4 seed Salve Regina in an elimination game Saturday morning.
The Bison (21-19, 6-8 CCC) got on the board first following a RBI single by junior
Kyle Bouchard and held a 2-1 lead until the bottom of the eighth. Graduate student
Chris Anderson drove in the other run for Nichols on a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Junior
Jack Dicenso started the game for the Bison, cruising through six innings in which he gave up one unearned run on seven hits and two walks while striking out three. Sophomore
Robert Cobb would get the loss on the day, giving up two runs on two hits and two hit batters. Freshman
Brendan Duffy and junior
Brodie Altiere would combine for the final inning of work, allowing three runs (one earned) on one hit, two walks, and one hit batter.
