Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Nichols College women's tennis team ended their run in the NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 second round loss to No. 7 Bowdoin on the Pickard Courts in Brunswick, Maine.
The Polar Bears (15-5) came out strong, shutting down all three of the Bison's duo pairings. Bowdoin took the No. 1 and three doubles matches 8-1, while the No. 2 duo group of juniors
Lindsey Kaplan and
Juliana Herrera was taken down by a score of 8-3.
The Bison (16-2) dropped the No. 6 singles due to a retirement in the second set before Julia Marks of Bowdoin bested freshman
Kara Stankewitz 6-0, 6-0 to take the second-round match by a score of 5-0. The Polar Bears were leading in every singles match when the match point was won on court one.
Bowdoin advances to the next round and will play the winner of the MIT and SUNY New Paltz match tomorrow at noon time. The Bison end the season at a record of 16-2, tied for the fourth most wins in a season in program history.
