Freshmen Lance Law and Ray Wang each threw down 15 kills to propel the No. 3 seed Nichols College men's volleyball team into the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinals with a 3-0 win over No. 6 seed Dean College Tuesday night at the Nichols Athletic Center.
 
With the win, the Bison (17-9) completed a season sweep of the Bulldogs (6-22) and will now head to No. 2 seed Endicott for a match on Thursday night. Nichols posted a .544 hitting percentage as both Law (.650) and Wang (.591) combined to commit just four errors on the evening.
 
Nichols captured game one by a score of 25-12 behind five kills from law, four from Wang, and two each from freshmen Sean Jackson and Collin Hunter. Classmate Luis Castro handed out 12 assists while Hunter added five digs.
 
Law dominated the second set, posting a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage in a 25-10 win. Hunter picked up a pair of service aces, Wang added five kills (.625 hitting pct.), and Castro registered seven assists. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, hit -.263.
 
Wang stole the show in the third and final set, won by the Bison by a count of 25-13. The Chengdu, China native put down six kills (.714 hitting pct.) while Law picked up five and Jackson added two. Junior Oscar Chavez tallied four digs and finished the evening with a match-high 11.   
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Freshman John Kauffman led the Bulldogs with seven kills and two service aces.
            -Earlier in the day, Law was named NECC Rookie of the Year and garnered a spot on the First Team. Wang, meanwhile, was named to the Second Team while Chavez earned a spot on the Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
            -The .544 hitting pct. for the Bison was their second-highest of the season behind the .686 they put up against Newbury on March 16.
