Nichols ends season with loss in semifinals

The Nichols College men's volleyball team closed its first season of varsity competition with a 3-0 loss to Endicott College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinals Thursday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.
 
Senior Andre Foster and freshman Ray Wang each picked up four kills to lead the Bison (17-10), who lost game one 25-13, game two 25-20, and game three 25-9. Freshman Luis Castro tallied 12 assists and eight digs – both of which were team-highs – while freshmen Lance Law and Collin Hunter each registered three kills.
 
Bryn Lipton and Donovan Dey both put up 11 kills to pace the Gulls (24-6), who entered the match No. 12 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association I(AVCA) Top 15 national poll. Endicott posted a .400 hitting pct. and notched 11 blocks.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Wang finished the season with a team-leading 3.46 kills/set, followed by Law at 3.19.
            -Castro's 8.37 assists/set is tops in the NECC.
            -Chavez led the Bison in digs this season with 171 while Foster topped NC in blocks with 37 (eight solo).
