The Nichols College baseball team defeated Rivier University 8-3 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at the Nichols Baseball Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.
Nichols (14-11) eight runs came on four RBI hits and three sacrifice flies. Junior
Christian Naccari led the way, going two-for-two on the day with three RBI and two walks. Classmate
Kyle Bouchard also went two-for-two, recording three runs, two RBI, and drawing two free passes. Freshman
Victor Valentin had a great day off the bench, going two-for-two with two runs and a walk.
Junior
Tony Martignoli started off the game for the Bison recording 3.1 innings where he gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks, while striking out four. Classmate
Andrew Charbonneau would get the win, however, following a 4.2 inning performance giving up one unearned run on five hits and a walk, while also striking out four. Freshman
Isaac Blanford finished off the game for Nichols, throwing a perfect inning where he struck out two of the three batters he faced.
Rivier (6-21) got on the board first in the top of the first but would only see home plate two more times in the fourth and the sixth. Sophomore starter Daniel White was on the hook for the loss after a 5.1 inning performance that saw him give up six runs on nine hits and four walks, while recording one strike out.

- Today's contest marked the inaugural meeting between the Bison and the Raiders. The Bison take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Joe Assenza extended his RBI streak to four games.
-With his work today, Blanford has three straight appearances without allowing a hit.
