Bison fall on Senior Day

Recap
The Nichols College baseball team fell to Westfield State University 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Owls (23-11) got to the Bison (20-18) pitching early, plating a run in each of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Nichols' lone run came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by junior Christian Naccari.

Junior Jacob Barresi was on the hook for the loss for Nichols in his first career start, recording two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while picking up one strikeout through 3.1 innings. Classmate Brodie Altiere was the star of the Bison pitching staff for the game, giving Nichols 2.1 shutout innings in which he walked three batters.

Three things you need to know…
-Senior Joe Assenza extended his hit streak to twelve games with his single in the third inning. The hit also marked his 150th career hit, placing him at 7th all-time in program history.
-With his stolen base today, sophomore Nathaniel Cormier moved into fourth in the conference with 15 stolen bases. This also ties him for 10th in program history for stolen bases in a season.
-Following his walk in the first inning, junior Kyle Bouchard moved into first place in the conference with 25 free passes.
