The Nichols College baseball team dropped a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) games to Salve Regina University on Tuesday afternoon in Newport, Rhode Island.
Game 1 – Nichols 2, Salve Regina 12
The Bison received all their offense from junior
Kyle Bouchard (1-for-3) and graduate student
Chris Anderson (1-for-1). Bouchard drove in the Bison's first run in the very first inning with an RBI single that drove in senior
Joe Assenza. Anderson picked up an RBI single himself in the second inning to give Nichols the 2-1 lead at the time.
Salve (17-13, 6-5 CCC) went on to score 10 unanswered runs, highlighted by two three-run home runs from Zach Smith and Madden Ward. Freshman
Brendan Duffy ended up with the loss after going three innings, while giving up three runs on five hits.
Game 2 – Nichols 1, Salve Regina 4
Nichols (18-15, 5-7 CCC) picked up their lone run of the game thanks to a solo shot from Assenza in the third inning, his third of the season. The Seahawks scored three of there four runs in the first inning, which proved to be enough to grab the two-game sweep of the Bison.
Junior
Jack Dicenso ended up with the loss despite pitching his second straight complete game. He went all seven innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits, while punching out five batters.

Three things you need to know…
-Assenza, after going 3-for-7 combined on the day, now leads the Bison and is sixth in the CCC with a .349 batting average.
-Dicenso now has two complete games which is in a tie with two other players for second most in the CCC.
-Both teams committed two errors between the two games.
