The University of New England took a pair of games from the Nichols College softball team Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Softball Field.
 
Game One: UNE 4, Nichols 0
Senior Avery Alberghini went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Nor'easters, who received seven innings of shutout ball from senior Sydnee Bessler. She scattered four hits, did not walk a batter, and fanned eight. Junior Alexis Ferris allowed six hits and four runs (two earned) with six strikeouts over seven for the Bison.
 
Game Two: UNE 4, Nichols 0
Senior Melissa Sprague held the Bison to one hit and struck out 10 in a complete game victory. Sophomore Zea Macris went 2-for-3 for the Nor'easters while senior Alexis Kapsambelis drove in the game-winning run with a bunt in the first inning. Freshman Candice Nelson surrendered six hits and four runs (two earned) in seven innings of work for NC.
 
Key stat
The Bison were held to five hits on the afternoon, two of which came off the bat of freshman Samantha Kostek.
