The Nichols College softball team has won eight of its last nine games following a split of its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at Salve Regina Sunday afternoon at Toppa Field.

Game One – Salve Regina 1, Nichols 0
Junior
Alexis Ferris scattered five hits and surrendered one unearned run over six innings for the Bison. Senior
Callie Andrews, junior
Taylor Commesso, and freshman
Samantha Kostek each had one hit for NC. The Seahawks scored the only run of the contest on a throwing error in the fifth.

Game Two – Nichols 10, Salve Regina 4
Sophomore
Colleen Callahan laced three doubles, drove in a pair, and scored twice as the Bison (16-9-1, 7-3 CCC) pounded out 13 hits. Freshman
Samantha Kostek went 3-for-5 and also drove in two runs while senior
Jessica Kuelling picked up three hits and an RBI. Run-scoring hits from Kuelling and Callahan sparked a four-run first inning for Nichols. In the fourth, the Bison tacked on three more behind a two-run double from Kostek and an RBI double from Callahan. In the circle, freshman
Candice Nelson earned her eighth win of the season as she allowed seven hits and four runs in seven innings of work. She walked two and struck out one.
