The Nichols College softball team lost a pair of games at Western New England University Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Golden Bear Park.

Game One – Western New England 1, Nichols 0
Junior
Alexis Ferris gave up four hits and an unearned run over six innings in defeat. The Holyoke, Mass. native allowed one walk and struck out eight, surrendering an unearned run in the sixth on an RBI single off the bat of junior starting pitcher Aimee Kistner. In seven innings of work, Kistner held the Bison to four hits while striking out seven. Freshman

Game Two – Western New England 4, Nichols 2
The Bison committed three errors which led to four unearned Golden Bears runs. For Nichols, senior
Jessica Kuelling lifted a sac fly in the sixth to plate Kostek, who then singled home junior
Taylor Commesso in the seventh. Freshman
Candice Nelson was tagged for five hits and four unearned runs in six innings of work for Nichols (16-11-1, 7-5 CCC). Junior Sydney Pounds and sophomore Emilie Decker each went 2-for-3 for WNE (17-11, 7-5 CCC) while junior Paige Uliase fanned seven in seven innings.
