Samantha Kostek belted her first collegiate home run to help the Nichols College softball team take two from Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Gordon College Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Softball Field.

Alexis Ferris fanned nine over six innings of work to earn her eighth win of the season. Senior
Callie Andrews and junior
Taylor Commesso each recorded wo hits while junior
Amanda Alioto drove in the eventual game-winning run in the fifth. Senior

Cara Mayhew, and freshman
Cassidy Aiello also drove in runs for Nichols, which took advantage of four Gordon errors as three of its runs were unearned. The win was the 100th in the career of Nichols head coach
Kristan Mallet.

Game Two – Nichols 4, Gordon 3
Kostek's solo home run in the third got the Bison (15-8-1, 6-2 CCC) on the board before a two-run single off the bat of junior
Katrina Valeri in the in the fourth put them ahead for good. Freshman
Candice Nelson got the win for Nichols as she surrendered four hits and three runs over 4.1 innings of work. Ferris tossed the final 2.2 innings and allowed one hit while striking out two. Megan Jenker drove in a pair for the Fighting Scots (13-15, 4-8 CCC).
