Alexis Ferris struck out a school-record 16 batters and senior
Callie Andrews picked up four hits and scored four runs as Nichols College took a pair of non-conference softball games from Elms College Thursday afternoon at Condon Field.

Game One – Nichols 4, Elms 0
Ferris struck out 16 batters and held the Blazers to four hits to earn her seventh win of the season. Junior
Taylor Commesso provided the only run support Ferris would need with a solo home run in the fifth before the Bison pushed across three runs in the sixth as juniors
Cara Mayhew and
Amanda Alioto, along with sophomore
Cassidy Aiello, each picked up an RBI.

Game Two – Nichols 9, Elms 1
Mayhew went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Andrews collected three hits and scored three times for the Bison (13-8-1). Nichols struck for three runs in both the third and fourth innings to grab an 8-1 lead as an RBI double off the bat of sophomore
Colleen Callahan highlighted the third frame while Andrews tripled and scored in the fourth. Freshman
Candice Nelson held the Blazers (5-13) to two hits and one run over five innings of work to earn her sixth win. She walked one and struck out four.

Mayhew has moved into second place in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in RBI with 22.
