Cara Mayhew recorded four RBI on the day for the Nichols College softball team, which closed the PFX Spring games with a win over McDaniel and a loss to Macalester Thursday afternoon at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont, Fla.

Mayhew drove in one with a sac fly to center in the third and another on an infield single in the Bison's three-run fifth inning. Freshman
Samantha Kostek went 3-for-4 with an RBI while junior
Amanda Alioto went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and two runs scored and freshman
Cassidy Aiello was 2-for-4 with an RBI. In the circle, freshman
Candice Nelson went the distance to record her first collegiate win. She surrendered 10 hits and three runs with three walks and one strikeout over seven.

Game Two: Macalester 7, Nichols 4
The Bison fell behind 5-0 before rallying for four two-out runs in the fifth to get back into the game. Mayhew got the Bison on the board with a two-run triple to right that plated Alioto and senior
Callie Andrews. Junior
Taylor Commesso followed with a two-run home run over the right field fence – her first of the season – to make it 5-4. Macalester then pushed across a pair of unearned runs in the sixth to extend its lead. Sophomore
Shannon Morin started for NC and allowed two hits and three runs (two earned) with walking three in 2.1 IP.
