The Nichols College men's volleyball team was defeated by Elms College 3-0 in the first of two matches Sunday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
 
Freshman Ray Wang led the Bison with eight kills while classmate Lance Law tallied seven. Freshman Luis Castro handed out 18 assists, Wang collected a team-high four digs, and both Law and senior Andre Foster each recorded two blocks.
 
The Blazers won games one and two by identical 25-13 scores before capturing the third game 25-18. Law picked up three kills in game one for the Bison and Castro handed out six assists. Wang tallied three kills in the second set and four more in the third. Law and freshman Collin Hunter each racked up three kills in the final set.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Today's contest marked the inaugural meeting between Nichols College and Elms College. The Blazers now lead the series, 1-0.
            -Sophomore Jovanny Torres led the Blazers with 11 kills while classmate Jeremy Torres notched nine.
            -Senior John Dunphy and freshman Carlos Mercado combined for 40 assists for the Blazers.
