SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nichols College senior defensemen
Ben Campbell and
T.J. Roche have been named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Ice Hockey Second and Third Teams, respectively.
A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Campbell enters the playoffs tied for 11th in the conference with 12 points (4-8-12). He collected a goal and an assist in a win at Southern Maine on January 8, scored a power-play goal at Wentworth in the regular season finale on February 16, and picked up points in back-to-back games twice this season. Campbell is a two-time CCC Academic All-Conference pick (2017, 2018) and has accumulated 47 points in 106 career games (14-33-47), placing him No. 9 all-time amongst defenseman in program history.
Roche sits in a tie for ninth in the conference with 13 points (2-11-13) and is eighth in penalty minutes (28). The Northport, New York native scored twice in a win over Endicott on November 9 and picked up three assists at Western New England on January 19. For his career, Roche has 43 points (10-33-43) in 105 games.
Brady Fleurent (UNE) was named CCC Player of the Year while a pair of Salve Regina University student-athletes – Blake Wojtala and Matt Dillon – received Goaltender and Rookie of the Year honors. Tyler Hines (Western New Eng.) was the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year while T.J. Manastersky of Curry was tabbed Coach of the Year.
The Bison (11-11-3) earned the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament and hosts No. 5 Endicott on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. at Levy Rink.
