Seahawks hold off Bison

Recap
Graduate student J.B. Baker and junior Filip Virgili scored goals in Nichols College's 3-2 loss to Salve Regina University Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Levy Rink.

Senior Hogan Davidson was one of four student-athletes to record an assist for the Bison (0-3-0, 0-1-0 CCC), who outshot the Seahawks 45-35 – including 24-14 in the second period. Junior John McLean scored the GWG for Salve Regina (2-0-0, 1-0-0 CCC) and finished the night with six shots.

Junior Dylan Carabia scored the only goal of the first when his slapper from just inside the blue line eluded sophomore Matt Efros and gave SRU a 1-0 lead. Less than five minutes into the second, sophomore Justin Perron took a shot in the slot that ricocheted off Virgili and past sophomore Louis-Felix St. Jean to even the score at one.

Later in the stanza, a pair of PP goals from the Seahawks 2:06 apart gave them a 3-1 lead. Baker's second of the season with 1:54 remaining in the period cut the Nichols deficit to one.
