Graduate student J.B. Baker and junior Nicholas Mangone each scored goals for the Nichols College men's ice hockey team in a 4-2 loss at Salve Regina University Saturday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Portsmouth Abbey Ice Rink.
 
Freshman Austan Bellefeuille recorded his first collegiate point – an assist on Baker's team-leading fourth goal of the season – as the Bison (0-4-0, 0-2-0 CCC) fell for the second-straight day to their rivals from 'The Ocean State.' Freshman Korbinia Lutz made his first collegiate start between the pipes for head coach Parker Burgess and recorded 29 saves.
 
The Seahawks (3-0-0, 2-0-0 CCC) held a 2-0 lead in the second when Mangone potted his first of the season off a feed from sophomore Petr Miko to cut the SRU led to one. In the third, Baker's marker brought the Bison to within one at 3-2 with 4:26 remaining before the Seahawks picked up an empty-netter to seal the win.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Tonight's contest marked the 45th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Salve Regina University. The Bison now lead the series, 21-20-4.
            -Baker ran his goal-scoring streak to three games and owns 90 career points (38-52-88) in 79 games.
            -The two teams combined for 167 penalty minutes – including 107 by the Seahawks on 24 penalties.
