Gulls down Bison in CHC opener

The Nichols College women's ice hockey team lost to Endicott 4-1 Friday afternoon in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena in Beverley, Massachusetts.

The Gulls (2-0-0, 1-0-0 CHC) got off to a hot start in the first period, scoring two goals in the first 14 minutes of play to give the Gulls a quick 2-0 lead. Ashlie Jones and Kellie Popkin scored the Gulls two first period goals. Nichols answered back right before the end of the first period with a goal from junior Mel McAleer at the 14:40 mark in the first period to make it a 2-1 lead for Endicott. Freshman Sarah Zeidan and Kaci Johnson added assists on the goal from McAleer.

Endicott went on to add two more goals in the contest. A power-play goal in the second period scored by Jade Meier and an even strength goal from Kat Keith in the third period. Endicott put up a total of 45 shots en-route to their 4-1 victory over Nichols.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Today's contest marked the eighth all-time meeting between the two programs.
-The Gulls outshot the Bison 45-28 in the contest.
-Freshman Julia Carroll turned aside 41 shots in her first collegiate start.
