McAleer records hat trick in 4-1 win

Junior Mel McAleer scored three goals and added an assist in Nichols College's 4-1 win over Johnson & Wales in non-conference women's ice hockey action at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island Tuesday evening.

The Bison and Wildcats went scoreless in the first period before the Bison scored on a power-play goal 54 seconds into the second period of the stick of freshman Sarah Zeidan, her third of the season. Three minutes later the Wildcats struck back with a goal of their own from Koryn Russell. McAleer scored her first of three goals at the 14:58 mark in the second period to propel the Bison into the lead.

Nichols scored again just 35 seconds into the third period with another goal from McAleer and assists from Zeidan and freshman Lauren Rokalao. Nichols added an insurance goal and McAleer completed the hat-trick with a power-play goal at the 17:52 mark in the third period with an assist from sophomore Alicia Hunks.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Three Bison scored multiple points in tonight's contest; McAleer (3-1-4), Rokalao (0-2-2) and Zeidan (1-1-2).
-Freshman Julia Carroll picked up her first collegiate win, while turning aside 25 shots.
-Head coach Samantha Fallon notches her first career win for the Bison in tonight's game.
