Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Bengals clip Bison in OT

Recap
Senior J.B. Baker scored his first goal of the season in Nichols College's 2-1 overtime loss to Buffalo State University in non-conference men's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the Buffalo State Tournament in upstate New York.

The Bison (0-2-0) outshot the Bengals 37-35 and saw junior Matt Efros turn aside 33 shots in his second collegiate start. Senior Hogan Davidson and sophomore Lucas Andersson picked up assists on the NC goal.

The Bengals grabbed a 1-0 lead with a PP goal midway through the first, and the lead held until Baker scored at 12:54 of the third period. In overtime, Anthony Tulipane capitalized on an NC turnover in their own end and potted the GWG with 1:12 remaining in overtime.

Nichols was 0-for-3 with the extra skater while Buffalo State was 1-for-4.

Three things you need to know...
-Today's contest marked the third-all time meeting between Nichols College and Buffalo State, dating back to the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational in 2017. The Bengals now lead the series, 3-0-0.
-Sophomore Curtis Carlson was named to the All-Tournament Team. He scored in yesterday's contest to No. 7 Adrian.
-Baker's goal was the 36th of his career and 88th point in 77 career games for Nichols.

Quote
"I really thought we played an excellent hockey game. Everyone wants the results right away. In order to get results, you need a great effort and you need to execute. Right now, we have the effort part down pretty good. Now, we just have to execute." –Nichols head coach Parker Burgess
