Bison, Nor'easters play to 1-1 tie

Recap
Freshman Jessica Gossas-Moberg scored her first collegiate goal in Nichols College's 1-1 tie with UNE in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday afternoon at Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

The Bison lit up the scoreboard first in the contest in the first period with a goal from Gossas-Moberg at the 7:42 marker, her first collegiate goal to give the Bison the early 1-0 lead. Sophomores Alicia Hunks and Isabella Portt picked up assists on the Bison's early goal. The Nor'easters answered back seven minutes later with a goal of their own when Kenady Nevicosi buried her first goal of the season with assists from Tatum Gietl and Marykate Drinkwater.

The game remained tied at one goal apiece for the remainder of the game. However, the Bison had multiple chances to score including two breakaways from junior Mel McAleer that were stopped by the Nor'easters goalie Julia Benjamin. In the overtime period the Nor'easters outshot the Bison 5-3 but were unable to find the back of the net.

Three things you need to know…
-The Bison's lone goal came on the power-play, their third of the season.
-Today's contest marked the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs. The Bison and Nor'easters are tied at 3-3-1 all-time.
-Junior Abby Bassett turned aside 40 shots in the game.
