Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Bison throttle Colonels for first-ever CCC win

Recap
Sophomore Jayleen Fegan collected 13 kills and 10 digs to propel the Nichols College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Curry College Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Fegan also added five service aces as the Bison (12-12, 1-7 CCC) finish the 2019 campaign with a program-record 12 wins and also won their first conference match in program history. Nichols won games one and two by scores of 25-23 and 25-21, respectively. After the Colonels (13-13, 0-8 CCC) won game three 25-18, the Bison closed out the win with a 27-25 triumph in game four.

Freshman Allyson Tuxbury racked up 14 kills and 13 digs for NC while senior Megan Gardner picked up 11 kills and four digs in her final collegiate match. She will graduate No. 1 in blocks and No. 2 in both kills and assists. Sophomore Rachael Veilleux handed out 36 assists and senior Lexxus Andrews had a team-leading three blocks.

Three things you need to know...
-Veilleux's 36 assists was a career-high, surpassing last season's career-best of 31 which she set against Regis (MA) on September 8.
-The win snapped a 33-match losing skid against conference foes since the program was elevated to varsity status in 2016.
-Fegan finished the season leading the CCC in service aces/set (0.68).

Quote
"What an incredible win and a great way to send our seniors out. We have put a lot of hard work in and this is a big step in the right direction for our program heading into the off-season. I could not be prouder of the way we played not only tonight, but this entire season. We took massive strides towards becoming a winning program that is consistently in the playoffs." –Nichols head coach John Post
