Second half rally sends Bison past Leopards

Recap
The Nichols College men's soccer team defeated Wentworth 2-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday afternoon on the NC Soccer Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.

The Bison (9-4-2, 2-2-1 CCC) fell behind early after giving up a seventh minute goal to Griffin Price, his third of the season. Price's goal was assisted by two other Leopards, Erik Treble and Alex Moore. Nichols was outshot 12-3 in the first half as Wentworth (6-6-2, 2-2-0 CCC) dominated much of the possession and went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The Bison came out strong in the second half scoring two goals to eventually take the 2-1 win. Sophomore James Chasco-Dimauro tied the game at one after scoring on a free kick from 30 yards out. In the 86th minute, the Bison took the late lead after sophomore Ryan Mangan received a perfect pass from freshman Riley Donovan and beat the goalie for his fourth goal of the year and the game-winner.

Quote
"Today was a tale of two halves. I don't think we came out playing at the pace we needed to match or outmatch Wentworth. We dropped too far off and paid the price. The second half was a different story. James hammered a 30-yard shot that the keeper could not handle and the game-winner from Mangan was from a great ball from freshman Riley Donovan. And we just had to hold on tight and defend for the last three-and-a-half minutes. I couldn't ask for a better way to gain momentum going into the last three conference matches of the regular season." – Nichols head coach Chris Traina
