Leopards clip Bison in 2OT

The Nichols College women's soccer team lost to Wentworth 4-3 Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on the NC Soccer Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.

The Bison (11-4-0, 2-3-0 CCC) received three points from Sophomore Maegan Roy in the first half with a goal and an assist. Freshman and reigning CCC Rookie of the Week Taylor Patitucci notched her fifth goal of the season to open up the scoring at the 27:01 mark. Nichols was outshot nine to five in the first half but led 2-0 going into the break. Sophomore Damiana D'Agostino added an assist in the first half as well.

The second half opened up a flurry of scoring, as the Leopards (5-9-1, 1-2-1 CCC) scored three goals from Abigail Meyers, Alexandria Rodriguez and Jess Poratti. Poratti's goal in the 78th minute gave Wentworth the 3-2 late in the game. Nichols took no time to respond as Roy netted her second goal of the game to tie the game at three apiece with eight minutes to go, with an assist from sophomore Amalia Sessoms. The game went to a second overtime before Poratti scored her second goal of the game and seventh of the season to give the Leopards the 4-3 win in double overtime.
 
Three things you need to know…
-The Bison and Leopards have gone to overtime six times in 24 overall meetings.
-Wentworth outshot Nichols 23-19 in the match. Both teams also had two shots apiece in the overtime periods.
-Patitucci now has five goals in her last three games.
