Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Bison tame Huskies, 5-1

Recap
Freshmen Justin Perron and Curtis Carlson each recorded a goal and an assist in Nichols College's 5-1 win at the University of Southern Maine Tuesday night in non-conference action at USM Ice Arena.

Junior Vincent Crivello recorded a goal and two assists while senior Ben Campbell notched a goal and an assist for the Bison (8-6-0), who have now won two-straight and moved two games over the .500 mark. Nichols went 3-for-9 with the man advantage and killed off all four Huskies (2-10-2) PP opportunities.

The Bison trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes of play before ripping off four goals in the opening 11:20 of the second period to move ahead 4-1. Senior Matthew Menta snapped a seven-game goal drought when he potted his sixth goal at 8:25 before goals from Crivello and Perron just 45 seconds apart pushed the lead to 4-1.

Nichols finished the game with a 31-20 edge in shots.

Three things you need to know...
-Tonight's contest marked the ninth all-time meeting between Nichols College and the University of Southern Maine. The Bison have won two of the last three meetings but still trail the series, 6-3-0.
-Freshman Brett Epp stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced to earn his fifth win of the season for Nichols.
-This was the second two-point game of Perron's career and the fourth of Carlson's.

"It was nice to see the power play get going and put some pucks in the net. It will get our confidence rolling. The boys were disciplined and did the job tonight." –Nichols head coach Parker Burgess
