The Nichols College women's basketball team lost to Western New England 59-35 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday night at the Nichols Athletics Center in Dudley, Massachusetts.
The Bison (4-17, 2-10 CCC) started off strong going into the second quarter with a six point lead over the Golden Bears (14-7, 8-4 CCC) however, WNE stormed back with a 19 point effort in the second quarter to take the 23-18 halftime lead. The Bison struggled offensively the rest of the way as the Golden Bears took the conference matchup thanks to a 14 point (6-of-13 FG) effort from Emily Farrell. Two other Golden Bears scored in double-digits, Meghan Orbann (13) and Lauren Chadwick (12).
The Bison were led by senior
Mekaela Fithian-Giantonio who poured in 12 points (4-of-16 FG) and four three pointers. Sophomore
Shannon St. Lawrence collected 10 boards to go along with seven points (3-of-9 FG). Sophomore
Isabella Nerney, coming off a 31 point effort at Salve Regina, put up 10 points (4-of-14 FG) and nine rebounds.

-St. Lawrence has now collected double-digit rebounds in five games.
-Fithian-Giantonio has now scored double-digit points in five games this season, averaging 7.1 points per game.
-The Bison's 11 turnovers is the second lowest amount this season.
