The Nichols College women's ice hockey team lost to Stevenson University 2-1 in non-conference action Friday night at Levy Rink in Harrisiville, Rhode Island.
The Mustangs (6-9-1) got on the board first after junior
Emily Eagan drew a hooking penalty at the 6:56 mark in the first period. A minute later junior defenseman Rachel Grewette propelled the Mustangs into the lead with the early power-play goal. The Bison (8-6-3) answered back with 16 seconds left in the first period to tie the game at one apiece when senior

The Mustangs battled with the Bison for a scoreless second period that included seven combined power-plays between the two squads. Stevenson freshman Tea Ferrara broke the tie at the 11:10 marker in the third period when she potted her first collegiate goal with a helper from junior Allyson Barlow. Nichols battled for the last 11 minutes but ultimately came up short.

-There were a combined 21 penalties between the two squads for a combined 50 minutes.
-The shots were almost even, Stevenson edged Nichols 32-31.
