The Nichols College women's basketball team lost to Roger Williams University 56-47 on Mental Health Awareness night Wednesday night in Bristol, Rhode Island at the Campus Rec Center.
The Bison (3-14, 1-7 CCC) were led by junior
Ciarri Formby-Lavertu who dropped in a season-high 18-points and 4 rebounds, as well as a double-double from sophomore
Shannon St. Lawrence who put in 10 points and 12 rebounds on the night.
The Hawks (7-10, 5-3 CCC) were led by freshman Karli Opalka who recorded a double-double herself with 16 boards and 11 points. Sophomore Sam Mancinelli led the Hawks in points with 16 on the day.
Nichols was down 26-12 at the half before exploding for a 20-point third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 20-8 to bring the Bison to within two points going into the fourth quarter (32-34). Nichols eventually took a two-point lead (39-37) after Formby-Lavertu put in a lay-up with seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter, however, the Hawks would regain the lead two minutes later and they didn't look back.

Three things you need to know…
-Before Formby-Lavertu scored 18 points in tonight's game her previous season high was 13 against Salve Regina on November 28.
-With another double-double in tonight's game, St. Lawrence now has two on the season. The other coming on January 5 against Gordon.
-Nichols held Roger Williams to just 26% shooting from the field.
