Bison and Golden Bears play to 1-1 tie

Recap
Nichols College freshman Evan Lemoine scored a goal as the Nichols College men's soccer program tied Western New England 1-1 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field.

After the Bison (4-2-1) and the Golden Bears (5-1-2) went scoreless in the first half thanks to a great defensive effort for both programs, Lemoine was able to get the Bison on the board. Nichols junior Chris Noga played a through ball up the right side of the field to Lemoine, who snuck the ball past the right foot of Western New England senior goalkeeper Sam Brewer to give the Bison the 1-0 lead in the 67th minute.

In the 77th minute, the Golden Bears tied the game at one as senior Josh Loomis netted his second goal of the season. The strong defensive effort continued through both overtimes as each team earned a point.

Three things you need to know…
-Senior Patrick Porpora had 12 saves in the match.
-Noga led the Bison in shots with six.
-Golden Bears senior Nick Liccardi led his team with six shots.

Quote
"We played at a higher level tonight. Lemoine scored a great goal to put us up, then late in the game WNE answered when we failed to clear a ball. We had several chances in overtime, but with everything said and done, we played better soccer." –Nichols head coach Chris Traina
