Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | By: Tyler Gaudette

Bison erupt late, down Falcons 4-1

Recap
Senior Gregory Giglio tallied a goal and an assist as the Nichols College men's soccer team (2-0-0) downed the Falcons of Albertus Magnus (0-1-0) 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

Junior Chris Noga and freshman Evan Lemoine each racked up a goal and an assist as the Bison scored four times late in the second half to remain unbeaten. They controlled much of the action and outshot the Falcons 32-11.

Sophomore Ali Ali opened up the scoring midway through the second half by catching a cross from Lemoine in the middle of the box and heading it past senior goalie Joe Russo to make it 1-0. Four minutes later, Giglio used his chest to settle a ball out of the air before flicking it over the defense to Lemoine, who casually skipped the ball by Russo's right foot and into the far right corner of the net.

Less than a minute later, Albertus Magnus sophomore Jonathan Beaucejour made it a one-goal game by heading in a ball from a free kick at 73:45. Ten minutes later, Giglio headed a ball past Russo off a corner kick from Noga to make it 3-1. Noga was then taken down from behind in the box and was awarded a penalty shot, which he buried into the bottom right of the net.

Three things you need to know…
-The win was the first for the Bison over the Falcons since 2009.
-The 2-0-0 start is the best for the program since they opened the 2014 campaign 2-0-0 - the last time they captured the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship.
-Senior Patrick Porpora recorded four saves for the Bison.

Quote
"Today's match was a step in the right direction. We still have plenty to sort out, but we were able to capitalize on some great opportunities in the second half. The guys are very much looking forward to their much-deserved day off tomorrow."  – Nichols head coach Chris Traina
