MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – After a thrilling 5-4 win over Wilkes University in the NCAA Tournament First Round, the Nichols College women's tennis team will take on No. 18-ranked Skidmore College in the Second Round on Friday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the Proctor Tennis Courts on the campus of Middlebury College.

The Bison enter the Second Round at 20-2 overall after defeating the Colonels on Thursday afternoon. Nichols took a 2-1 lead following doubles play, while the sophomore trio of Lindsey Kaplan, Megan Nathanson, and Amarie Settiwongse each won their respective singles matches to clinch the match. Settiwongse earned the deciding point with a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.
 
Nichols is making their second-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and third trip overall in program history. Nichols improved to 2-2 overall in the NCAA postseason with Thursday's win over Wilkes.
 
Skidmore (16-5) cruised in its First Round matchup with Yeshiva, 5-0, to roll into the Second Round. The Thoroughbreds only allowed one point across all three doubles matches before sophomore Ada Wiggins won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Jackie Ahn posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles to finish off the match. Skidmore is making its 12th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and 22nd overall, which includes the National Championship in 1998.
 
This will be the first meeting between the two programs in the sport of women's tennis.
 
Friday's other Second Round will feature SUNY Geneseo against host Middlebury at 11:00 a.m. The Knights advanced to take on the Panthers with a 5-0 win over Penn St.-Berks in the third and final First Round matchup held at Middlebury on Thursday.
