NEW LONDON, Conn. – After nearly a month off, the Nichols College women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday afternoon, picking up an 8-1 win over Connecticut College.
The Bison improve to 18-2 overall and return to action on April 26 when they take on Emerson College at 3:30 p.m. The Camels drop to 2-6 with the setback.
Nichols jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play as senior
Alanna Judd and sophomore
Lindsey Kaplan recorded the first point of the day for the Bison with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles over sophomore Elena Erdekian and freshman Isabella Di Scipio. Sophomores
Amarie Settiwongse and
Isabelle Leonardi followed with an 8-3 win over juniors Catherine Rockett and Brinley Bartlett at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore
Megan Nathanson and senior
Ashley Dallaire rounded out doubles play with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over sophomore Alexandra Waldman and freshman Paige Braithwaite.
Settiwongse earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over Bartlett at No. 1 singles, while Leonardi sealed the victory for the Bison by downing Di Scipio at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Kaplan defeated Rockett, 8-6, at No. 5 singles, followed by freshman
Juliana Herrera rallying to defeat Waldman, 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 at No. 4 singles. Sophomore
Danielle Mandel rounded out the match with an 8-1 win over Erdekian at No. 6 singles.
The Camels got their lone point of the day at No. 2 singles as Braithwaite defeated Nathanson, 3-6, 6-3, 10-2.
