Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Bison skate to 2-2 tie with Wildcats

Recap
Sophomore Mel McAleer and freshman Abby Lueken each collected a goal and an assist in Nichols College's 2-2 tie with Johnson & Wales (RI) University in non-conference women's ice hockey action Saturday night at Levy Rink.
 
Senior Kelly Ferreira and sophomore Jordyn McGuire each collected assists for the Bison (7-2-3), who outshot the Wildcats (3-8-3) by a 27-25 margin. Senior netninder Cassandra Goyette turned aside 23 shots to move to 5-2-3 on the season.
 
Kathy Ensor and Drea Westgaard potted goals for the JWU while Jasmine Mucci recorded 25 saves as her record moved to 3-7-3 on the season. Kathryn Mason picked up an apple for the visitors.


Lueken tied the game at one 38 seconds into the second period with a wrister that got past Mucci. McAleer tied the game midway through the third when she knocked a rebound in for her seventh marker of the campaign.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Tonight's contest marked the sixth all-time meeting between Nichols College and Johnson & Wales (RI) University. The Bison lead the series, 3-2-1.
            -The Bison have equaled the program-record for ties in a season (three), which was also accomplished in 2009-10.
            -McAleer's 11 assists is tied for the fourth-highest single-season mark in program history.
