Jessica Larsh recorded nine points, including the game winner with 3.7 seconds to go as the Nichols College women's basketball team defeated Salve Regina 51-50 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday night at the Nichols College Athletic Center.
The Bison (3-3, 1-0 CCC) opened up conference action by taking a four-point lead going into halftime on the back of a seven-point effort in just nine minutes of play from sophomore
Isabella Nerney and six points from junior
Ciarri Formby-Lavertu in the first half. Nerney would finish the game with 12 points including two triples. Formby-Lavertu went on to lead the Bison in points (13) and rebounds (5) in the win.
The Seahawks (1-5, 0-1 CCC) had a lead as big as three points with 2:07 to go in the 4th quarter. Larsh tied the game with 35 seconds remaining at 49 apiece. Salves Tara Burke got to the charity strike with seven seconds remaining with a chance to make it a two-point lead for the Seahawks, Burke went 1-2 from the line giving the Seahawks the 50-49 edge. Mekaela Fithian-Giantonio took the inbound and lobbed a cross court pass to Larsh who was waiting under the basket and notched the easy two-point go-ahead bucket to give the Bison the 51-50 lead. Salve Regina junior Torie Scorpio put up the last second three-pointer but came up short.

Three things you need to know…
-Tonight's game marked the 51st all-time meeting between the two programs. The Bison snap a 17-game losing streak against the Seahawks, getting their first victory since 2009.
-Despite the win the Bison were out rebounded, 42-31.
-Larsh led the team in assists (3) and steals (3).
