Mel McAleer netted two goals as the Nichols College women's hockey program captured a 3-1 win against Morrisville State in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday afternoon at Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
The Bison (3-0-0, 1-0-0 CHC) came out firing as they potted two goals in the first six minutes to take the 2-0 lead over the Mustangs (2-1-0, 0-1-0 CHC). In the 12th minute of the first period Morrisville cut the lead in half with a power-play goal from junior Jessica Ujcik.
The Mustangs pulled goalie Karoline Arvik with a minute to play in regulation, when senior
Kelly Ferreira sent home an open-net goal to seal the win over the reigning CHC champions.

Cassandra Goyette collected 33 saves in the win.

Rebecca Taylor.
-This was Nichols first program win over Morrisville St. in five tries.
