Goyette turns aside 34 shots as Bison shutout Hawks, 4-0

Recap
Senior Cassandra Goyette turned aside 34 shots and recorded the shutout as the Nichols College women's ice hockey program defeated Becker College 4-0 Saturday night in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action at the Worcester Ice Center.

After a scoreless first period the Bison (5-2-1, 3-2-1 CHC) pulled ahead when sophomore Jordyn McGuire potted her second goal of the season just a minute into the second period with help from freshman Abby Lueken and senior Mikayla Castro. Seven minutes later at the 8:24 marker freshman Kara Santoro put the Bison up two goals over the Hawks (0-6-1, 0-3-1 CHC) with assists from seniors Marg Reid and Jensen Wurm.

In the third period senior Kelly Ferreira was at it again potting her sixth goal of the year and her 10th point of the season to give the Bison the three-goal advantage. Sophomore Mel McAleer and freshman Katelyn Joyal both collected assists on Ferreiras goal. As time was running down sophomore McKenna Gernander was able to collect her second goal of the year on the open net after collecting a pass from sophomore Nicole Cowan as the Bison finished off the shutout.
