Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Seahawks upend Bison in three

Recap
The Nichols College women's volleyball team was defeated by Salve Regina University 3-0 Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Senior Sabrina Boermeester, along with freshmen Jayleen Fegan and Shannon Anthony, each recorded four kills to lead the Bison (4-17, 0-6 CCC). Freshman Emily Tinyszin picked up two kills while freshman Lindsey Rugg – making her collegiate debut – dished out seven assists.

The Seahawks (17-7, 4-2 CCC) rolled to a 25-8 win in game one behind five kills from freshman Nicole Karabaich. They scored a 25-18 win in game two as senior Paige Tully registered three kills before five kills form freshman Madison Lee in the third set gave SRU a 25-18 win.

Three things you need to know...
-Tinyszin tied her career high in kills, which was set earlier this year against Mt. St. Mary (NY) on October 6.
-Salve Regina posted a .330 hitting percentage for the match – including a .536 clip in the first set.
-Senior Moriah Burns and freshman Shannon Anthony combined for a block in the third set.

Quote
"We came out pretty sloppy in the first set, and in this conference, you can't get away with that. These teams are so strong and you have to bring your 'A' game every night. I felt we brought a little more fight and were more focused after that. We started to do some things well in the last two sets. Our defense was strong tonight and we received some contributions off the bench. We did a lot of good things tonight, but in that conference, that's not always enough." –Nichols head coach John Post
