DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's tennis team defeated Endicott College 5-4 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Thursday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

In a rematch of the 2016 CCC Championship – the Gulls were seeking their revenge as they got off to a 2-1 start after doubles.

The Gulls took the top flight as freshman Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and senior Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) got the best of sophomores
Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine), 8-0.

Juniors Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) pushed the Gulls lead to 2-0 with an 8-1 win over senior
Alanna Judd (Westborough, Mass.) and sophomore
Isabelle Leonardi (North Hampton, N.H.) at No. 2 doubles.

The Bison cut into the deficit with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Sophomores
Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) and
Danielle Mandel (Fair Lawn, N.J.) knocked off junior Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.).

Nichols jumped out to a better start through the singles matches as they took the first four matches to clinch the victory. Nathanson defeated Fitzgibbons 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles before Settiwongse bounced back with a huge win in the top flight 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 over Barnett.

Sophomore
Rachel McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won at No. 6 singles over Losano 6-2, 6-1 and then Judd knocked off Hartman 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

The Gulls took the final two singles matches of the day as junior Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) defeated Leonardi 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Rahr got the best of freshman
Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Columbia) at No. 5 singles 4-6, 7-5, 10-2 to close out the day.

The Bison have won the last three meetings with the Gulls – including last year's CCC Championship – and improve in the all-time series to 9-18.
