Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bison knock off Seahawks for first time in five years, 13-9

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Junior Jack Zaremski (Dorchester, Mass.) scored four goals to help the Nichols College men's lacrosse team secure a 13-9 win over Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at the Lawrence Avenue Field.

Sophomore Jack Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) collected five points on three goals and two helpers while his brother and classmate Casey Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) potted three goals for the Bison, who snapped a four-game losing skid to the Seahawks and kept their playoff hopes alive.

Senior Nick LoCicero (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and junior Andrew Fera (Cranston, R.I.) paced the Seahawks with four goals each. Salve Regina outshot the Bison, 33-24.

LoCicero scored the first two goals of the game to stake his team to an early lead. Nichols ripped off the next seven goals – including three from J. Campanale and two from Zaremski – to give the Bison a 7-2 lead 3:43 into the third period.

Two goals from Fera and one from LoCicero cut the SRU deficit to 7-5 before markers from Zaremski and C. Campanale to close the third period brought the score to 9-5 entering the fourth.

The Seahawks opened the final stanza with three-straight goals to climb to within one at 9-8 with 11:09 to go. Nichols responded by scoring four of the final five goals, highlighted by back-to-back tallied from Zaremski and C. Campanale at 8:28 and 6:14, respectively.

Senior Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) led all student-athletes with 10 ground balls. Junior James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) recorded five saves to earn the victory.
