O'Connor's eight points push Bison past Becker, 18-3

­LEICESTER, Mass. – Graduate student Reece O'Connor (North Grafton, Mass.) had three goals and five assists to lead the Nichols College men's lacrosse team past Becker 18-3 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
 
The win marks the most wins under head coach Eric Gobiel and is the most wins for the program in a season since 1976.

The Bison outscored the Hawks 12-2 in the first half – including 7-0 in the second quarter. Nichols won 20 of 24 face-offs with senior Kevin D'Angelo (Pelham, N.H.) winning 15-19 to lead the way.
 
Senior Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) matched his season-high with four goals and assisted on two others while freshman Cole Fontana (Grafton, Mass.) and junior captain MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) each had three goals. Fontana also added a season-high four assists.
 
The Hawks were led by senior Blake Boutiette (Burrilville, R.I.) with a pair of goals while freshman Jack Schneider (Morrisville, Vt.) added a goal.
 
Becker opened up the scoring at 12:37 of the first quarter before the Bison scored the next three goals in a span of 4:15 to take a 3-1 lead. Boutiette added an up-goal at 4:09 of the first quarter and then the Bison scored 14-unanswered goals over the next three quarters to take command of the game.
 
Junior James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) earned his fifth win of the year after making a pair of saves through the first half before sophomore Brian McKinley (Nashua, N.H.) stopped six shots while playing the entire second half. Freshman Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Texas) made seven saves in the loss.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison now move to 8-0 in the all-time series against the Hawks in a series that dates back to 2009.
