Junior Cody Rodgers (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Matthew Menta (Lima, Pa.) each collected two points for the Bison, who went 2-for-4 on the power play and also scored a shorthanded goal. Senior Patrick Salkind (Springfield, Va.) turned aside 23 shots to record his third win of the season.

Senior Tyler Pionk (Hermantown, Minn.) potted his first goal of the season for the visitors while classmate Josh Twietmeyer (Weston, Fla.) and sophomore David Kleyman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up assists on the marker. Freshman netminder Kyle Carducci (Hartford, Conn.) made 29 saves in defeat.

Rodgers fourth goal of the season on the power play at 9:23 of the first period put Nichols ahead 1-0. Cuthrell slid a pass to Rodgers, who one-timed a shot from the left circle into a wide open net.

In the second, Cuthrell sent freshman J.B. Baker (Columbia, Md.) in alone on Carducci, and he squeezed the puck through Carducci's legs to push the lead to 2-0 at 9:14. The goal was Baker's team-leading 13th of the season.

Cuthrell's ninth of the season came 21 seconds into the third on the PP to make it 3-0 before Pionk jammed the puck past Salkind at the right post at 13:43 to spoil the shutout bid.

The Golden Bears were 0-for-4 on the power play.
