Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Curry stuns Bison 4-1 in regular season finale

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College men's ice hockey team fell to Curry 4-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at June Rockwell Levy Rink.
 
The Colonels rallied off three unanswered third period goals to defeat the Bison for the first time in the last nine meetings. Junior Shane Tracy (Bow, N.H.) had a goal and a pair of assists to lead Curry.
 
Senior Tyler Vankleef (Dundas, Ontario) opened the scoring at 8:19 of the second period with a power play goal. Sophomore Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland) and junior Jarret Kup (Rosseau, Ontario) were credited with assists on the goal.
 
Following the second intermission, sophomore Blake Kelley (Woodbury, Minn.) evened the score with a power play goal of his own at 3:40 of the third period. Junior Cody Rodgers (Austin, Texas) and freshman JB Baker (Columbia, Md.) had the helpers on the goal.
 
It did not take long for the Colonels to regain the lead as sophomore Mack Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored the game-winner at 5:48. Junior Adam Valadao (Ajax, Ontario) added to the lead at 12:24 and Tracy finished the game with the empty-netter at 19:42.
 
Senior Sean Swansen (Salem, N.H.) had a game-high six shots to lead the Bison as they outshot the Colonels 36-23. Tracy and Vankleef each had three shots for Curry.
 
Junior Colin Brennan (Chester, N.J.) stopped 19 shots in the loss while senior Bret Sinclair (St. Catharines, Ontario) made 35 saves in the win.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison fall to 27-45-2 in the all-time series but this was the Colonels' first win in the series in the last nine matches dating back to 2013.
