Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Bison drop to Manhattanville, 5-1

RYE, N.Y. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to Manhattanville in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Friday evening at the Playland Ice Casino.

Sophomore Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) scored the only goal for the Bison at 10:48 of the second period as Nichols was outshot 48-16 by the Valiants.

The Valiants were led by freshman Amanda Sabia (Freehold, N.J.) who scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season and junior Sarah Sinning (Southhold, N.Y.) who added a pair of assist to extend her team-lead in that category to 11.

Manhattanville opened up the scoring with a two-goal first period and added another three minutes into the second stanza before the Bison finally got on the board. The Valiants added two more in the final 20 minutes to defeat Nichols by the same score that they did nearly a month ago in Harrisville, R.I.

Sophomore Mikayla Castro (Killingworth, Conn.) paced the Bison with six shots while Sinning provided a game-high seven shots for the Valiants.

Sophomore Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) stopped 43 shots in the game – marking the ninth time she has made at least 40 saves in a game this season. Senior Olivia Drew (York, Maine) had 15 saves in the win.
