Endicott spoils Senior Day for Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College football team suffered a 52-13 setback at the hands of Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field in Dudley, Mass.
 
In a pregame ceremony, the football program honored their 15-member senior class in Stephen Smith (Waltham, Mass.), Joe Slattery (Pelham, N.H.), Patrick Isacsson (Canyon Country, Calif.), Mike Abbruzzese (Natick, Mass.), Michael McCourt (New Fairfield, Conn.), Jared Stewart (Uxbridge, Mass.), Michael Nolan (Coventry, R.I.), Scott Dargan (Middletown, Conn.), Brett McEvoy (Wrentham, Mass.), Zackary Gorczynski (Sutton, Mass.), James McGuigan (Charlton, Mass.), Gabriel Pena (Salem, N.H.)
Ryan Jacques (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Jeff Perez (Quincy, Mass.), and Crème Watford (Meriden, Conn.) for their contributions to Nichols College and its athletics department.

For the second-straight week, the Bison were done in by turnovers as the Gulls forced seven miscues by the Bison on the day including three interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
 
Freshman quarterback Cameron Hamilton (Mattapoisett, Mass.) finished the day going 21-of-35 for 228 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 12 carries for 54 yards on the ground. Senior Michael Nolan had a monster day on the ground for the Bison as he rushed the ball 23 times for 127 yards and his second touchdown of the season.
 
In the air, sophomore Tony Martignoli (Santa Rosa, Calif.) registered five grabs for 102 yards and a touchdown reception, while freshman Eric Mooney (Stoneham, Mass.) had four catches for 41 yards.
 
Defensively, senior Brett McEvoy, who became the College's all-time leader in tackles last week against Becker, added 15 more stops to his career total. Classmate Zackary Gorczynski added nine tackles, with freshman DeJante Starks (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Christopher Lawrence (Newport, N.H.) adding seven tackles apiece. Sophomore Jared Abbruzzese (Natick, Mass.) recorded his first career interception, which eventually set up the first Bison touchdown of the day.
 
Endicott sophomore quarterback Joe Kalosky (Plymouth, Conn.) went 14-of-26 for 180 yards and three scores to lead the Gulls. Senior Lavante Wiggins (Pittsfield, Mass.) rumbled his way to 56 yards rushing with a pair of scores, while sophomore Hakim Fleming (Bridgeport, Conn.) added 46 yards on the ground. Four different receivers caught a touchdown, with freshman Will Genaway (Hinsdale, Mass.) leading the group with three catches for 75 yards and a score.
 
Sophomore Devin Bower (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) led the defense with eight tackles, while junior Christian Pizzotti (Melrose, Mass.) and sophomore James Lewis (New Fairfield, Conn.) registered seven tackles apiece.

Saturday marked the 15th meeting between the two programs, and Endicott leads the series 13-2.
