DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's tennis team wrapped up its second-straight perfect Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) season with an 8-1 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Bison earned their second-straight CCC Regular Season Championship and will be the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament slated to start next week.

Nichols jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the match even started as the Leopards were forced to forfeit No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles by only having five players.

In doubles play, the sophomore duo of
Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Isabelle Leonardi (North Hampton, N.H.) made quick work of seniors Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) and Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.) at No. 1 singles with an 8-0 sweep. Senior
Ashley Dallaire (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore
Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine) battled back from an early hole to post an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over freshman Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.).Â
As the match moved to singles play, sophomore
Emily Houchin (Durham, Conn.) clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of senior Mackenzie Jones (Granville, Mass.) at No. 5 singles. Sophomore
Rachel McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Sam Webb, while Settiwongse defeated Sollecito, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Freshman
Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Columbia) registered the final point of the day for Nichols with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Caitlyn Briggs.Â
The Leopards got on the scoreboard at No. 4 singles as Sam McGibbon rallied to beat junior
Kristina Domantas (Holden, Mass.) 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
