DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference decisions on Thursday afternoon, defeating Becker College, 9-0, while falling to Trinity College, 6-3.

Against the Hawks, Nichols was able to take the top two doubles matchups by duplicate 8-1 scores as sophomore
Rachel McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and senior
Tiffany Romano (South Windsor, Conn.) defeated senior Jacqueline Andrade (Somerset, Mass.) and freshman Victoria Puczydlowski (Dudley, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles, while freshman
Amanda Costa (Palmer, Mass.) and junior
Kristina Domantas (Holden, Mass.) beat senior Dana Mahan (Manville, R.I.) and sophomore Fiona Gilley (Worcester, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore
Emily Houchin (Durham, Conn.) and sophomore
Emily Sprague (Charlton, Mass.) added an 8-0 sweep of freshman Shannon Hazelton (Rockland, Mass.) and freshman Jessica Mossop (Wellington, Fla.) at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Houchin handed Mossop a 6-0, 6-0 setback at No. 6 singles, with
Emily Sprague adding a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hazelton at No. 5 singles.
Amanda Costa defeated Gilley, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, and Domantas beat Puczydlowski, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. McDonald and Romano added matching 8-0 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles over Andrade and Mahan.

Against the Bantams, the Bison were able to take 2-of-3 doubles matches to grab an early 2-1 lead. Senior
Ashley Dallaire (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and sophomore
Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine) defeated senior Ania Aliev (Needham, Mass.) and sophomore Jillian Winer (Bolton, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-5, while sophomore
Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) and senior
Alanna Judd (Westborough, Mass.) beat freshman Morgan Wilkins (Halesite, N.Y.) and freshman Lily Everett (Atlanta, Ga.) at No. 3 doubles, 8-4. Trinity senior Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) handed sophomores
Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Isabelle Leonardi (North Hampton, N.H.) an 8-3 setback at No. 1 doubles.

Unfortunately for the Bison, the Bantams answered by winning 5-of-6 singles matches to steal the victory. Kaplan grabbed the lone point of singles play at No. 6 singles with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over senior Sydney Schonefeld (Tiburon, Calif.).

For Trinity, Babunski added a 6-3, 6-0 win over Settiwongse at No. 1 singles, while Jillian Winer beat Nathanson, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Isabelle Leonardi battled back from a 6-3 setback in the opening set to take the second set 7-5, but she fell in the third set, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. Lily Everett added a 6-4, 6-4 win over freshman
Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Columbia) at No. 5 singles, and the Bantams won No. 2 singles by default.
