BOSTON, Mass. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to UMass Boston in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Friday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center Ice Arena.

Freshman
Margaret Ready (Centerville, Mass.) potted her first-collegiate goal at 11:24 of the second period to cap the scoring for the game. Junior
Ariana Dembro (Saugus, Mass.) was credited with the assist on the goal.

The Beacons flew out to a 4-0 lead after the first period including a team-leading eighth goal of the year by sophomore Kaleigh Beauregard (Gaylord, Mich.). Sophomore Emily Harris (Littleton, Colo.) assisted on a pair of goals in the period.

UMass Boston added a power play goal at 16:48 of the second period from sophomore Edy Moritz (Guilford, Conn.) to end its scoring on the day. Ten different student-athletes had a point in the game for the Beacons.

The Bison were outshot 42-11 for the game – including 15-2 in the second period. Nichols was led by four different players with a pair of shots each – senior
Samantha DiReda (Shrewsbury, Mass.), junior
Laura Christie (Hudson, Mass.), Dembro and Ready. Beauregard had a game-high seven shots for the Beacons.

Sophomore
Lauren Bennett (Chicago, Ill.) started and made nine saves over the first 20 minutes of action before junior captain
Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) took over to stop 28 shots over the final two periods. Sophomore Alyssa DePippo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made 10 saves in the win.

The Bison fall to 1-13-2 in the all-time series against the Beacons with the only win in the series coming back in 2012.
