Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Huskies shutout Bison, 4-0

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 4-0 to Southern Maine in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Saturday afternoon at Levy Rink.
 
The Huskies – who outshot the Bison 51-18 for the game – held a 1-0 lead through two periods of play after a first period goal by senior Ally Vanidestine (Bangor, Maine).
 
Vanidestine ultimately scored the game-winner with less than five minutes to go in the first period rebounding the puck through the legs of sophomore goaltender Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.). Senior Olivia Barragree (Red Lodge, Montana) and sophomore Julia Ormsby (Barre, Vt.) were credited with assists on the play.
 
Southern Maine added three more goals in the third period including a pair of power play goals to close out the game. Sophomore Alex Mitchell (Wrentham, Mass.) scored the final goal of the game and assisted on the other two goals in the third period to lead the Huskies.
 
Freshman Katie Nolan (Dorchester, Mass.) scored her second collegiate-goal and provided a game-high eight shots while the Bison were paced by freshman Emily Eagan (Hingham, Mass.) with four shots.
 
Goyette made 47 saves in the loss for the Bison while junior Courtney Davis (Woburn, Mass.) earned the shutout after stopping all 18 shots she faced.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison fall to 2-9-0 in the all-time series with the Huskies. The Bison last won in February of 2015.
