HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to Manhattanville College in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Saturday afternoon at June Rockwell Levy Rink.

Marg Reid (Harrisville, R.I.) potted her first-collegiate goal at 8:08 of the first period to even the score at a goal apiece before Valiants scored two more before the end of the first intermission and a goal in each of the final two periods to take the win. Sophomore

Kelly Downey (Waltham, Mass.) had assists on the goal.

The Valiants outshot the Bison 51-17 for the game – including 19-3 in the first period that saw Manhattanville score three goals.

Freshman Amanda Sabia (Freehold, N.J.) scored the first two goals of the game for the Valiants – also her first-collegiate goals – while sophomore Nicole Mensi (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist.

Mikayla Castro (Killingworth, Conn.) paced the Bison with four shots and Sabia provided a game-high eight shots for the Valiants.

Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) had 46 saves in the game – giving her 99 saves in a pair of games on the weekend – while freshman Taylor Elias (Winnipeg, Canada) stopped 16 shots in the win.
