Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Reid scores first-collegiate goal in 5-1 loss to Valiants

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to Manhattanville College in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Saturday afternoon at June Rockwell Levy Rink.
 
Sophomore Marg Reid (Harrisville, R.I.) potted her first-collegiate goal at 8:08 of the first period to even the score at a goal apiece before Valiants scored two more before the end of the first intermission and a goal in each of the final two periods to take the win. Sophomore Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) and senior Kelly Downey (Waltham, Mass.) had assists on the goal.
 
The Valiants outshot the Bison 51-17 for the game – including 19-3 in the first period that saw Manhattanville score three goals.
 
Freshman Amanda Sabia (Freehold, N.J.) scored the first two goals of the game for the Valiants – also her first-collegiate goals – while sophomore Nicole Mensi (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist.
 
Sophomore Mikayla Castro (Killingworth, Conn.) paced the Bison with four shots and Sabia provided a game-high eight shots for the Valiants.
 
Sophomore Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) had 46 saves in the game – giving her 99 saves in a pair of games on the weekend – while freshman Taylor Elias (Winnipeg, Canada) stopped 16 shots in the win.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison fall to 1-16-0 all-time against the Valiants with the only win coming back in 2013.
