Late goal sends Pilgrims past Bison, 2-1

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 to New England College in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Friday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena.

The Bison were outshot on the game 56-18 – including 22-6 in the third period. The Bison scored their first goal in four games at 11:40 of the third period when sophomore Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) potted her first goal of the season.

With 8:20 remaining in the game, junior Tori Wolter (Chandler, Ariz.) took a hard shot from the point, which bounced off NEC sophomore goaltender Ashley Castriotta (Framingham, Mass.) and was collected by Sullivan, who carried it to the left, and flicked it past Castriotta to tie the game. Freshman Ashley Ljunggren (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was credited with the second helper on the goal.

At 17:09 NEC peppered the Bison with three shots before senior Rachel Vigliano (Monroe, N.J.) found a gap from the point for her second game-winning goal of the season.
